Note to Self

When creating an idea for a T.V. show, Movie, or Novel:

• Inspiration is key because every great project or idea was inspired by something. That something could be anything whether being experience or another body of work. 

• Drafting the characters is an important part because that's what makes the story interesting. The audience needs to be able to connect with the characters and have a desire to root for their success, therefore, being interested in your story.

• Developing the plot is what gives the idea structure. The plot is what your story is based on and the theme's underlying message is how determines how everything from a character's motivations to even where your setting is.

Young Love Pt.1

Fade In:

Ext. Park – Evening

Waves of people walk by Duke, a high school sophomore, while he is sitting down with Tony, his childhood friend.

DUKE

          (Looking around)

You ever think about what your future wife will look like Tony?

TONY

All the time, most of the time she’s this sexy fine women with a big ol’ booty, pretty face and a nice rack! Kinda like that baddie over there. Bet you I can get her number.

DUKE

Man I bet you can’t even hold her attention for more than two minutes!

TONY

Bet!

Tony goes off to talk to the girl he saw, and Mary, a female student from another school, comes and sits on the other side of the bench Duke is sitting on with headphones in.

DUKE(V.O)

(Looking at Mary with an admiring stare)

She must go to Florey high, she looks like one of those quiet girls, and she’s cute. Should I try and introduce myself? Nah… let ‘em come to you Duke.

Duke notices she’s playing a song he likes.

DUKE

It probably wouldn’t hurt to say hi, what’s the worst that could –

Tony comes back over with the girl he was talking to, Jasmine, who is Mary’s friend.

JASMINE

Well there she is, sitting over here by your friend.

TONY

Yep

MARY

(Taking out one of her earphones)

Oh, hey Jasmine girl. I was just about to text you. Who’s this?

TONY

Hi i’m tony, pleasure to meet you.

MARY

Nice to meet you too. Come on Jasmine my mom is here to pick us up.

JASMINE

(Waving to tony)

Bye Tony

TONY

See ya’ll later

(Speaking to duke)

Duke stands up.

DUKE

(Stretching)

Yeah, her friend is too.

TONY

Who? Mary? Yeah, but Jasmine got some junk-in-the-trunk bro! Talk about finding a future wife.

DUKE

(Looking in the direction the girls walked away)

Yeah. Aye tony.

Duke and tony start walking.

TONY

Yea what’s up?

DUKE

Do you believe in love at first sight?

TONY

Mann! Shut yo hopeless romantic head ahh up!

DUKE

(Laughing)

Procrastination (Practicing Screenplay Format)

Fade In:

Int. Classroom - Afternoon

End of class and all students exit except for Tony, a freshman in college, who is stopped by Mr. Chippen who is Tony's Speech professor to talk about his missed assignments.

Tony

          Oh... yeaah I’m just a bad student, heh

Mr. Chippen

(Moves his glasses from his face to his head)

You're not a bad student Tony, You're just not getting where you're supposed to be. I need you to start doing your work, if not you might have to see me next semester.

Tony

(Adjusting his posture with a deep breath)

You’re right Mr. Chip I got it.

Mr. Chippen

Alright Mr. Johnson, let’s have a good semester. See you in class WITH the homework I assigned ready when you walk in on Friday.

Tony

Yes Sir Mr. Chippen, see you then.

Camera follows Tony into hallway.

Tony

(Walking down the hallway to an elevator)

He's right though, I need to start doing my work on time... like when I’m supposed to. I feel like I procrastinate too much, its either that or I’m just trying to do too many things at one time; Working a part-time job, taking kick-boxing lessons on the weekends, and college during the week.
